I believe that with greater knowledge the potential for understanding and the capacity for greatness becomes possible!
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with numerous populations and in a variety of settings including residential facilities, psychiatric hospitals, outpatient agencies, crisis centers, domestic violence shelters as well as group homes servicing children, adolescents, and their families. I have worked directly with trauma and all symptoms related to PTSD. Many of my clients suffer from PTSD as a result of sexual abuse and/or rape to which I treat with E.M.D.R. Therapy . I have extensive training and experience in treating eating disorders and all forms of addiction in addition to hands on training as an interventionist.
My clientele usually consists of couples and spouses struggling with relationships issues, teens/adults struggling with addiction including drug & alcohol, and/or eating disorder, depression, anxiety, and PTSD symptoms often as a result of sexual abuse, rape, and intrusive events.
Most of my sessions involve E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing). E.M.D.R. addresses the feelings and negative cognitions (beliefs). E.M.D.R. prompts the re-processing of information to support the individual to respond differently to triggers, stimuli, events, memories, etc. E.M.D.R. works to address anxiety even if the individual is unable to identify the source of that anxiety. I believe in outcome success and creating long lasting change. The journey to address issues and sources of discomfort, sadness, and or pain involve courage and commitment. Take those first steps and I will not only meet you half way but walk the journey with you.
